An introduction to the Carbon Farming Initiative
The Carbon Farming Initiative (CFI) was created to deliver greenhouse gas emission mitigation measures and promote the abatement of same. In turn, this allows farmers the opportunity to sell the offsets to overseas buyers and/or on the domestic market.
In short, the proposal has the capacity to reduce the cost for Australia in meeting its mitigation targets and promote more sustainable land management practices.
